Indian cricket sensation Jasprit Bumrah has made headlines by donating the shoes he wore during his outstanding five-wicket haul on Day 2 at Lord's. This performance marked his 15th five-wicket haul in Test matches, as he effectively dismantled the English batting lineup during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 3rd Test. His efforts helped India secure a total of 387 runs in their first innings against England.
Shoes Donated to MCC Museum
As reported, Bumrah has generously gifted his shoes to the MCC museum following his remarkable performance at Lord's. In a span of just seven balls, he took down key players Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Chris Woakes, shifting the score from 251/4 to 271/7. Bumrah concluded the day with impressive bowling figures of 5/74. This achievement not only earned him a spot on the Lord's honours board but also tied him with teammate Ravindra Jadeja for the record of the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in Test cricket. Earlier in the series, he had already claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings at Headingley, Leeds, before being rested for the second Test at Edgbaston due to workload management. Despite his absence, the Indian bowling unit managed to secure 20 wickets, making history.
Bumrah's Record in England
This five-wicket haul has also allowed Bumrah to surpass Kapil Dev, making him the Indian bowler with the most Test wickets in England. He is now just one wicket shy of Ishant Sharma, who holds the record with 48 wickets from 14 matches. Bumrah has achieved 47 wickets and is on track to surpass Ishant Sharma in the ongoing Test at Lord's. Notably, Bumrah has recorded four five-wicket hauls in England, maintaining an impressive average of 25.43.
